Magistrate Court in Lokoja has passed an ordered that the embattled Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial district be remanded in police custody till June 11th pending the commencement of hearing in the case brought against him and three others by the state police command.
At the hearing in court this morning, counsel to Senator Dino Melaye, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) tried to geta bail condition which was opposed by the Police prosecuting Counsel, Alex Iziyon who insisted that the offences preferred against the senator were ordinarily not bailable.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate Suleiman Abdullahi denied the bail application and ordered that Melaye be kept in police custody till June 11, 2018 when hearing in the case would commence.
The charges the police brought against Senator Melaye was based on criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, among others.
Dino, who is currently on stretcher will be in police custody for 38 days.
