Throwback photos have surfaced online proving that the governor of Ekiti state and his pronounced 'enemy', Kayode Fayemi, were not always bitter foes. Showing the time when they were quite friendly.
Fayose first became governor of Ekiti on 29 May 2003 after defeating the then incumbent Governor Niyi Adebayo in the gubernatorial elections.
However, Fayose could not complete his tenure as a result of an impeachment on 16 October 2006 and his deputy took over.
After this tenure, Fayemi contested and became governor of the state while Fayose continued to challenge his impeachment in court. He later
succeeded and contested as an opponent in the 2014 Ekiti gubernatorial elections, defeating Fayemi who was seeking re-election, and becoming governor again.
Since Ayo Fayose became governor of Ekiti state, succeeding Fayemi, they became sworn foes because it’s been one fight or accusation after another.
Nigerians have come see the two men as sworn enemies who cannot see eye to eye especially now that Fayemi is trying to come back as governor of the state.
In all these however, it is important to note that the two men were not always enemies as these throwback photos have shown.
